About Me

Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Maureen De Silva and I reside in the county of Surrey, United Kingdom. I have lived here for many years though I am originally from another beautiful isle in the Far East, Singapore.

I am a self taught artist with a keen interest in painting still - life & landscapes. Until recently, I have painted as time permitted and have produced a number of commissioned works. I have also exhibited at some well known venues in London including the Institute of Women Artists at Westminster Hall. My works are in private collections at home and abroad. I especially enjoy exploring the versatile & beautiful medium of oil on gessoed hardboard and am an admirer of the works of the Old Masters. Studying their techniques, I have tried to capture some of their romantic realism in my works in a fresh, light & contemporary style.
